Lofoten & Arctic Norway: good to know
Can you see the northern lights in Lofoten?
Yes, from September to early April, on clear nights. The weather changes fast on the coast, so a stay of several nights gives the best chance.
What is a rorbu?
A fisherman's cabin on stilts at the water's edge, painted red, where crews lived during the winter cod season. Many are now rooms for guests.
How do you get to Lofoten?
Fly to Bodø and on to Leknes or Svolvær, or take the ferry from Bodø to Moskenes. A car is the easiest way to move between villages.
