The verdict
The Roman jeweller's hotel in its home city, opened in 2023 on Piazza Augusto Imperatore, in a 1940s building that Antonio Citterio and Patricia Viel remade in imperial marble and blocks of colour. The Bvlgari Suite looks down on the Mausoleum of Augustus, Niko Romito's restaurant has a terrace on the fifth floor, and the spa of 1,500 m² has a pool among marble columns. Three MICHELIN Keys, and the most polished city hotel in Rome.
Rome at its most polished, with the Spanish Steps and Piazza del Popolo within a short walk.
You want old Roman patina: this is a contemporary hotel in a modern building, however grand.
Ask for a room facing the Mausoleum, and take the aperitivo at the Bvlgari Bar, under 110 hand-blown Murano glass twirls by Barovier & Toso.
The rooms
A hundred and six rooms and suites in a palette drawn from the city, up to the Bvlgari Suite over the Mausoleum of Augustus. There is a library on the history of jewellery.
The setting
On Piazza Augusto Imperatore in the Campo Marzio, beside the Mausoleum of Augustus, between the Tiber and Via del Corso.
The food
Il Ristorante – Niko Romito, on the fifth floor with a large terrace over the Mausoleum, reinvents Italian classics; the Bvlgari Bar has a black marble counter and an outdoor bar for warm evenings, and Bvlgari Dolci is the brand's first patisserie in Italy.
Getting there
Rome Fiumicino is the main airport; the hotel is in the historic centre, and the Spanish Steps and Piazza del Popolo are a few minutes away on foot.
Good to know
The spa covers 1,500 m², with eight treatment rooms and a pool. There is no parking at the hotel. The three Keys are those of the Guide's 2026 selection.
