Montesol Experimental Ibiza
Ibiza Town, Spain

The verdict
Ibiza's original 1933 hotel recast by Experimental as a colourful 33-room city boutique on Vara de Rey. It delivers design, a useful all-year address and a rooftop view of Dalt Vila; choose it for urban energy, not seclusion.
Design-minded weekends with restaurants, the port and ferries to Formentera on foot.
You want countryside silence, a pool day or direct beach access.
Request a Dalt Vila-facing room and use the early ferry for an uncrowded start in Formentera.
The rooms
Thirty-three rooms and suites by Dorothée Meilichzon combine cool whites, pastel colour, bold pattern and references to bohemian Ibiza; outward-facing rooms trade some street sound for the best views.
The setting
On pedestrianised Vara de Rey at the foot of Dalt Vila, a few minutes from the marina and the Formentera ferry terminal.
The food
Café Montesol runs through the day with local Mediterranean plates; the rooftop is the address for cocktails against the old-town skyline.
Getting there
Around 15 minutes from the airport. Taxis are easy and a car is unnecessary for a short city stay; private parking is available at a premium.
Good to know
Open year-round and unusually useful outside Ibiza's main season. There is no swimming pool, and central rooms can pick up city noise.
