The verdict
Thirteen suites in a mountain inn at Radein, a hamlet cut off from its village by the Bletterbach gorge, a UNESCO site, with larch forest behind and the whole of the Adige valley in front. The interiors mix old stube wood, painted walls and good furniture, and the terrace is one of the finest in South Tyrol. One MICHELIN Key; adults and children over twelve.
Couples who want walks, a terrace and a small house that feels like a private one.
You want to ski from the door: this is walking and cross-country country, and the big areas are a drive away.
Walk the Bletterbach gorge in the morning, and take the terrace at five for the light on the valley.
The rooms
Thirteen suites of 35 to 80 m² across three floors, each with its own interior, most with a balcony or terrace towards the valley.
The setting
At Radein (Redagno), above Aldein on the edge of the Bletterbach gorge, in the south of South Tyrol, with the Latemar and the Weisshorn behind.
The food
A restaurant in the house for guests, with a wine list from South Tyrol's vineyards below, and meals on the terrace in fine weather.
Getting there
About 40 minutes by car from Bolzano. A car is needed.
Good to know
Children under twelve are not accepted. The Obereggen and Latemar ski areas are about half an hour away.
