The verdict
The old Rosa Alpina of San Cassiano, rebuilt from the inside by Jean-Michel Gathy and reopened as an Aman on 24 July 2025: fifty-one rooms and suites in wood and stone, a spa with three pools, and the Sella Ronda circuit within reach of the village lifts. Two MICHELIN Keys. It is Alta Badia's grand hotel in its most restrained form.
Skiing the Dolomiti Superski circuit by day and an Aman at night.
You want the old Rosa Alpina's family bustle: this is Aman, calmer and more formal.
Take a suite facing the peaks above the village, and book The Grill for the first evening.
The rooms
Fifty-one rooms and suites in a language of pale wood, stone and wool, the best of them with balconies facing the peaks above San Cassiano.
The setting
In the centre of San Cassiano, in Alta Badia, one of the ladin villages of the Dolomiti Superski area, with the Piz Sorega lift a short walk away.
The food
The Grill for Italian food on the terrace, Enju for Japanese shabu-shabu, the Heritage Room for breakfast and Il Salotto for the bar.
Getting there
About two and a half hours by car from Venice airport, an hour and a half from Bolzano and two hours from Innsbruck.
Good to know
The Aman Spa has seven treatment rooms and three pools, one of them outdoors. Winter and summer seasons, closing in between.
