The verdict
A 1960s hotel on the cliff above Conca dei Marini, ten minutes from Amalfi, which two Italian hotel families spent almost four years rebuilding under the architect Rino Gambardella into a villa of mid-century design, furnished from the owners' own collection. All 52 rooms and suites face the sea, eight lifts climb 90 metres from the private beach to the top terrace, and Alici, on that terrace, holds a MICHELIN Star. Promoted to three MICHELIN Keys in 2026.
Design lovers who want a private beach and a boat to Capri or Positano from the hotel's own jetty.
You want to walk out into a village: Amalfi is ten minutes away by car or the hotel's shuttle.
Take one of the hotel's Riva or Wally boats for a day along the coast, and keep an evening for Alici.
The rooms
Thirty-one rooms and twenty-one suites, all with sea views, several suites with a pool on the terrace. Handmade tiles, Italian fabrics and pieces from the hotel's own furniture line sit beside the mid-century originals.
The setting
On the cliff above the fishing village of Conca dei Marini, between Positano and Amalfi. Gardens and stairways run down to a saltwater pool and to Marinella, the hotel's white-pebble private beach, 79 m below by lift.
The food
Alici, with one MICHELIN Star, is Crescenzo Scotti's restaurant on the terrace, cooking the classics of Campania. Aqva serves lunch at the beach club, Marinella is the easier restaurant for dinner, and Plumbago is the bar.
Getting there
Private transfers from Naples airport or the Naples and Salerno stations, or by sea to the hotel's jetty. Free shuttles run by land and by sea.
Good to know
Children from eight. Two MICHELIN Keys until 2025, three since the 2026 selection.
