The verdict
A ten-room boutique in a restored 1866 'indiano' mansion in the heart of Begur, full of bohemian character, antique tiles and a candlelit courtyard restaurant. Intimate and personality-driven rather than slick — it's about atmosphere and the village on your doorstep.
Couples who want romance, character and Begur's old town on foot.
You need a pool, easy parking, or a beachfront location.
Dinner in the interior courtyard is the highlight — book a table even if you're not on half board.
The rooms
Just ten rooms inside an 1866 'indiano' mansion, each styled individually with antique hydraulic tiles, vintage finds and bohemian character. Sizes and layouts vary with the old house — some have little balconies over the street — so it's worth asking which suits you. Intimate and full of personality rather than uniform.
The setting
Right in the heart of Begur's old town, steps from its restaurants, bars and the hilltop castle, with the famous coves of Sa Riera, Aiguablava and Sa Tuna a 5–10 minute drive away. There's no pool — the trade-off for being able to walk everywhere in one of the Empordà's prettiest villages.
The food
The candlelit interior courtyard is the set-piece: a Mediterranean kitchen with international touches, open to non-residents, that turns dinner into the evening's main event. The vermouth hour on the patio is a local ritual worth keeping.
Getting there
About 45 minutes from Girona–Costa Brava airport. Begur's centre is pedestrian-friendly but summer parking is tight — use the village car parks and arrive on foot. A car helps for reaching the coves.
Good to know
Adults-leaning and intimate, with only ten rooms, so it books out in season. Begur is lively in August; light sleepers should ask for a quieter interior room. Book the courtyard table when you reserve.
