Mas de Torrent Hotel & Spa

Torrent, Spain

Verified by our editors · June 2026

The verdict

A 1751 Empordà farmhouse turned Relais & Châteaux retreat among cypresses and vineyards, ten minutes inland from the coast. The garden suites have private terraces and plunge pools, the spa is genuinely good, and the kitchen cooks the region honestly. The most complete luxury stay in the Baix Empordà.

Best for

Couples wanting a calm countryside base with a private pool, spa and serious food.

Skip if

You want to walk to the beach — the coast is a short drive away.

Insider tip

Book a garden suite, not a main-house room, for the private plunge pool and terrace.

The rooms

Around 39 rooms and suites split between the original 18th-century masia — thick stone walls, beams, more traditional character — and the garden bungalow-suites, which are the ones to book: contemporary, private and many with their own terrace and plunge pool. A Relais & Châteaux level of finish throughout.

The setting

Sits on a low hill among cypresses, gardens and vineyards outside the tiny village of Torrent, with the medieval towns of Pals, Peratallada and Begur all within 10–15 minutes. The coast and its coves are a short drive, so you get countryside calm without giving up the beach.

The food

The restaurant cooks seasonal Empordà cuisine built on local produce, with a strong DO Empordà wine list and a garden terrace for long lunches. Breakfast is generous; the kitchen takes the region's farm-to-table tradition seriously rather than as a slogan.

Getting there

Roughly 35 minutes from Girona–Costa Brava airport and about 1h30 from Barcelona. You'll want a car here — it's the natural base for touring the medieval villages and coves of the Baix Empordà. Free on-site parking.

Good to know

Open most of the year. The spa (treatments, pool, relaxation areas) is a genuine highlight — book treatments ahead in summer. Best suited to couples and quiet retreats rather than families with young children.
