The verdict
Mandarin Oriental's first hotel in Mallorca, opened in June 2026 on the Punta Negra headland just past Puerto Portals — a wooded peninsula of Aleppo pines with its own two small coves and long views across the bay. A landmark headland hotel reimagined into 131 rooms and suites, with a seaside spa, several pools and a serious line-up of restaurants, Matsuhisa (the Nobu group's Japanese-Peruvian kitchen) among them. Polished, contemporary and beautifully set; it's brand-new, so still finding its rhythm, but the location and the Mandarin Oriental service pedigree make it one of the most interesting openings on the island.

You want a hidden rural finca or a Tramuntana mountain village — this is a polished resort on the lively southwest coast, close to town rather than remote.
Ask for a sea-facing room out on the point, book Matsuhisa for a table over the water at sunset, and use the two coves early before the day warms up.
The rooms
131 rooms and suites, including nine intimate casitas, a run of rooms and suites with plunge pools, and five rooftop suites with private pools. Interiors are contemporary Mediterranean — pale stone, woven textures and warm ochre-and-blue accents — and many open onto terraces with sea or garden views.
The setting
On the Punta Negra headland at Costa d'en Blanes, Calvià, a wooded peninsula with exclusive access to two small coves and wide views over the bay towards Portals and Palma. It sits on Mallorca's lively southwest coast, so marinas, restaurants and the airport are all close — beautiful, but not remote.
The food
A strong spread of restaurants: Matsuhisa Mallorca brings Nobu Matsuhisa's Japanese-Peruvian cooking to a table over the water; Leña grills over open fire; Jacinta serves Mexican; Leppoc leans Mediterranean and Levantine; and Sobretaula is a sunset tapas terrace, with Aubara down by the pool.
Getting there
About 20 minutes from Palma airport and 15 from Palma itself, on the Costa d'en Blanes just beyond Puerto Portals — easy to reach and well placed for both the southwest coast and the capital.
Good to know
Newly opened in June 2026 as Mandarin Oriental's Mallorca debut, on the site of a long-standing headland hotel.
