The verdict
A country estate outside Capdepera whose main house goes back to the 14th century, restored into twenty-four suites with stone walls, terraces over the fields and a long pool, and a bistro overseen by the MICHELIN-starred chef Andreu Genestra. It holds a MICHELIN Key and is a calm base for the north-east's coves.
Couples and families who want countryside, space and good food, with the beaches of the north-east ten minutes away.
You want to walk to the sea or a town: you will drive to both.
Ask for a suite with a terrace facing the fields, and drive to Cala Mesquida or Cala Agulla early, before the car parks fill.
The rooms
Twenty-four suites, from junior suites to grand suites, in stone and warm wood with minimalist Mediterranean decor; most have a private terrace over the countryside.
The setting
In the countryside just outside Capdepera, in the north-east of the island, with the castle of Capdepera on the hill and the coves of Cala Mesquida, Cala Agulla and Cala Ratjada a few minutes' drive away.
The food
Senzill, the bistro, is overseen by Andreu Genestra and cooks simple, seasonal food from local producers; breakfast is Mallorcan.
Getting there
About 1 hour 10 minutes by car from Palma airport. A car is needed.
Good to know
Families are welcome. There is a pool with a large terrace and a small wellness area.
