The verdict
An 18th-century manor house in the market town of Campos turned into sixteen suites, with an art collection throughout and a private thermal circuit. It holds a MICHELIN Key and makes a strong base for Es Trenc and the south without sleeping in a beach resort.
Couples who like art and spas, and want the south's beaches by day and a town square by night.
You want the sea on the doorstep or countryside silence: Es Trenc is 11 km away and this is a town.
Go to Es Trenc early or late, when the beach is at its best, and keep the thermal circuit for the hot middle of the day.
The rooms
Sixteen suites, from junior suites to a penthouse, with exposed stone walls, oak floors and made-to-measure furniture. Art hangs throughout the house.
The setting
In the centre of Campos, a working town in the south of Mallorca, 11 km from the dunes and clear water of Es Trenc. The house keeps its historic arches and stone, with contemporary design and art alongside.
The food
Tess de Mar, the restaurant, cooks local and Mediterranean dishes. Campos has village restaurants within walking distance, and the fishing ports of the south coast are a short drive.
Getting there
About 25 minutes by car from Palma airport. A car is needed for the beaches.
Good to know
Adults only, from 14. The thermal circuit — heated pool, sauna, Turkish bath and sensory shower — is private to guests, and there is also an outdoor pool terrace.
