A tiny, intensely personal hotel of just seven suites in Imerovigli — the restored former family villa of an art collector, right on the caldera's edge. Whitewashed cave rooms with plunge pools hang over the volcano, and the dining is private and made to order. What it lacks in facilities it makes up for in one of the best caldera positions on the island and service that treats you like the only guests.

The rooms
Seven suites only, carved and whitewashed into the Imerovigli cliff, several with private plunge pools and terraces straight over the caldera. Interiors mix cave-house curves with the collected art and bespoke detail of the villa's origins. Intimate and adults-leaning by nature.
The setting
On the caldera edge in Imerovigli, the highest and quietest of the caldera villages, looking across to Skaros Rock and the volcano — one of the island's great sunset positions, a level above the Oia crowds and a short drive from Fira.
The food
Dining is private and personal rather than a public restaurant: a made-to-order menu with local wines, and the option of a Caldera Candlelight dinner set up on your own terrace or in your suite. Breakfast comes to you with the view.
Getting there
About 15 minutes from Fira and 25 from the airport and the port at Athinios. Imerovigli is pedestrianised along the caldera, so you park above and walk down the stepped paths — pack light.
Good to know
Very small and steps-heavy, like most caldera hotels — not the easiest for limited mobility or young families. The trade-off is privacy, silence and a front-row caldera view. Seasonal, roughly April to October.
