The verdict
The island's design benchmark — a restored 19th-century farmstead near Alaior, whitewashed and set among its own vineyards above the south coast, with sweeping views to the sea. Around 27 rooms of pared-back Menorcan cool, a lovely pool, and a kitchen and winery that pull travellers from across the island. Voted one of Spain's very best hotels, and it shows.
Design lovers who want whitewashed Menorcan cool, a vineyard, a pool and sea views.
You want to step onto a beach from your room, or prefer grand and formal over pared-back and rustic-chic.
Book a room with a sea view, taste the estate's own wine, and time sunset from the pool terrace.
The rooms
Around 27 rooms and suites across the restored farm buildings, in a pared-back palette of whitewash, natural linen and Menorcan materials; many look over the vineyards to the sea. Understated, design-led and calm.
The setting
On a hillside among its own vineyards near Alaior, above Menorca's south coast, with a beautiful pool and long views to the Mediterranean. The south-coast beaches (Cala en Porter, Son Bou) and the towns of Maó and Alaior are a short drive.
The food
The restaurant cooks contemporary Menorcan cuisine built on local and estate produce, paired with the property's own wines; long lunches and sunset dinners on the terrace are the ritual.
Getting there
About 20 minutes from Menorca (Maó) airport and Maó itself; Alaior is ten minutes. A car is recommended; parking on site.
Good to know
One of the most celebrated hotels in Spain (a Condé Nast Traveller Readers' Choice favourite), largely seasonal, and design-led rather than grand. Come for the vineyard, the views and the aesthetic.
