Menorca Experimental
Sant Lluís, Spain

The verdict
The Experimental Group's Menorca outpost — a 19th-century finca on 30 hectares near Sant Lluís, reworked into a bohemian, design-forward country hotel with the feel of an artist's summer house. Forty-odd rooms (nine with their own pools), a big garden pool and a buzzy restaurant and bar. Stylish, sociable and relaxed rather than hushed.
Design-minded travellers who want a stylish, sociable country finca with a great pool and bar scene.
You want total seclusion or heritage formality — this is bohemian, lively and contemporary.
Book one of the rooms with a private pool, and don't miss the cocktails — the Experimental Group made its name on them.
The rooms
Around 43 rooms and suites across a 19th-century finca and its grounds, styled in Experimental's bohemian-chic manner — warm tones, vintage finds, natural materials; nine rooms have their own private pools. Relaxed and design-led.
The setting
On a 30-hectare estate near Sant Lluís in south-east Menorca, with a large garden pool, olive trees and countryside all around. The south-east coves and Maó are a short drive.
The food
A convivial restaurant does Mediterranean, produce-led cooking, and the bar — this is the Experimental Group, after all — has one of the island's best cocktail lists. Sociable and buzzy.
Getting there
About 15 minutes from Menorca (Maó) airport and Maó; Sant Lluís is close. A car is recommended; parking on site.
Good to know
Part of the Experimental Group, largely seasonal, and more sociable and design-led than secluded. Great for couples and friends who want style and a scene.
