The verdict
A 1917 corner building at the start of the Gran Vía, restored in 2015 as the first five-star hotel on the avenue. It has 76 rooms and suites, and the terraces on its top floors look out over the rooftops of the Gran Vía. It held a MICHELIN Key in 2025 and lost it in the 2026 selection. It is the stay for the city's grand boulevard and its skyline.
Views over the Gran Vía and a rooftop drink at sunset, in the middle of everything.
You want quiet streets: the Gran Vía is Madrid's busiest avenue.
Book the terrace of Ático, on the sixth floor, for sunset over the Gran Vía.
The rooms
Seventy-six rooms and suites, bright and quiet despite the avenue, several with terraces on the seventh floor.
The setting
On the corner of Calle Marqués de Valdeiglesias and the Gran Vía, between Cibeles and the Puerta del Sol.
The food
Ático, the restaurant and terrace on the sixth floor, is run by the chef Ramón Freixa.
Getting there
About 25 minutes by taxi from the airport; Banco de España metro is a few steps away.
Good to know
There is a small wellness suite and a fitness room.
