The verdict
Cortina's oldest hotel, on the Corso Italia since 1826, bought by Renzo Rosso and reopened in June 2025 as fewer than forty rooms of alpine chalet wood, velvet and old photographs, with a terrace facing the peaks. One MICHELIN Key. It is the hotel for Cortina as a town rather than as a ski resort — the Corso, the aperitivo, the season.
Cortina at its most social, with the Corso outside the door and the Tofane in view.
You want a slope-side hotel: the lifts are a short ride away, and the Corso is the point.
Take a room with a terrace facing the peaks, and have the aperitivo at the hotel before walking the Corso.
The rooms
Fewer than forty rooms and suites, with dark wood, fireplaces in the larger suites and terraces facing the peaks around Cortina.
The setting
On the Corso Italia, the pedestrian heart of Cortina d'Ampezzo, with the Tofane and Faloria lifts a short ride away. Cortina co-hosted the 2026 Winter Olympics.
The food
A restaurant and bar with a terrace, and the village's restaurants on the Corso outside.
Getting there
About two hours by car from Venice airport. There is no railway; buses run from Calalzo station and from Venice in season.
Good to know
Christmas, New Year and February are the busiest weeks in Cortina; book early.
