The verdict

A French-inspired Art Nouveau mansion built in 1915 on Calle Colima, in Roma Norte, which the hotel says once served as a presidential residence. After a three-year restoration it opened as 15 rooms and suites that still feel like a family house: tapestries in the stair hall, stained-glass doors, antiques and old portraits, red and green tiled bathrooms. It joined Relais & Châteaux in 2026; it is not in the MICHELIN Guide's selection.

Best for

Couples who want Roma Norte's cafés and galleries outside and a house with real period character inside.

Skip if

You want a track record: the hotel is barely open, with few independent reviews so far. Children under 12 are not accepted.

Insider tip

Ask for a Patio Suite, with its own open terrace, or a Panorama Suite on the corner of the house, where three large windows take the light all day.

The rooms

Fifteen rooms and suites, from Classic Rooms of about 21 square metres to the Signature Suites of 43, with a freestanding tub, a walk-in rain shower and marble finishes. Several have terraces among the treetops of the street; the bathrooms use Talavera pieces made by a family workshop and Byredo toiletries.

The setting

At Colima 235, in the heart of Roma Norte, the colonia of Art Nouveau and neoclassical houses, tree-lined avenues, galleries, bars and some of the city's best cafés. Condesa and its parks are a short walk away.

The food

Lotti, the hotel's restaurant, is a neighbourhood dining room where the Swiss-born chef Luc Liebster cooks European classics with Mexican ingredients; breakfast is served there too. Roma Norte's restaurants and cantinas — traditional bars that serve food with the drinks — are all around.

Getting there

About 30 to 40 minutes by car from Mexico City's international airport (MEX), depending on traffic.

Good to know

Guests must be 12 or older, and pets are not accepted. The hotel belongs to Namron Hospitality, which also runs La Valise, a few streets away.
