The verdict
Twelve rooms in a modernist mansion built in 1911 on Sóller's main avenue, with a pool in the garden courtyard and the Tramuntana above the rooftops. It holds a MICHELIN Key and is one of the most characterful small hotels in the valley.
Couples who want Sóller's town life, the tram to the port and walks into the mountains, with a pool to come back to.
You want the sea outside the window or a resort spa: the port is a tram ride away and this is a twelve-room house.
Ask for one of the rooms with a balcony, and take the old wooden tram down to Port de Sóller for a swim before lunch.
The rooms
Twelve rooms, each different, from double rooms with a balcony or garden to a junior suite and a luxury suite. Original architectural details sit alongside contemporary design.
The setting
On the Gran Via in the centre of Sóller, the town of the orange valley at the foot of the Serra de Tramuntana. The house, Casa Magraner, opened in 1911 and belongs to the island's modernist period, with stone, wrought iron and plant motifs.
The food
The bistro serves breakfast and lunch by the pool, and there is a lounge bar. For dinner, Sóller's squares and the port are a short walk or a tram ride away.
Getting there
About 35–40 minutes by car from Palma airport through the Sóller tunnel. A car is useful for the mountains but not for Sóller itself; there is public parking across the street.
Good to know
Adults only. The pool is seasonal, and the Gran Via is a town street, so expect some life outside on summer evenings.
