Should you stay in Ciutadella old town or outside it?
Stay in the old town for restaurants and harbour evenings without a car. Choose the countryside for larger grounds, pools and quiet, accepting that every dinner or town visit needs a drive or transfer.
Which beaches are easiest from western Menorca?
The west is the usual base for Cala Turqueta, Macarella, Macarelleta and the Ciutadella coves. Summer parking and access arrangements vary, so check the island's current transport guidance before each beach day.
Do you need a car in Ciutadella?
Not for a short old-town stay. A car becomes valuable for rural hotels and beaches; collect it after the town portion if you want to avoid paying to keep it parked.
How long should you stay in western Menorca?
Three or four nights cover Ciutadella and several western coves. Add an eastern base during a seven-night trip only if you want to reduce cross-island drives.
