The verdict
A Renaissance manor built by the Heufler von Rasen family, one of the finest of its age in the Val Pusteria, run since May 2025 by Norbert Niederkofler, the chef whose Cook the Mountain philosophy took St. Hubertus to three MICHELIN stars. A handful of rooms in panelled wood, a table that cooks only from the mountains around it, and one MICHELIN Key.
Eating: a stay built around a table, with Plan de Corones and the Anterselva valley nearby.
You want a spa or a big hotel: this is a manor house with a few rooms.
Book dinner when you book the room — the table is the reason to come — and walk out to Lake Anterselva in the morning.
The rooms
A small number of rooms and suites in the old manor, with Renaissance panelling, pale floors and windows onto the meadows.
The setting
In Rasun di Sopra (Oberrasen), at the mouth of the Anterselva valley in the Val Pusteria, near Brunico and the Plan de Corones ski area.
The food
Norbert Niederkofler's Cook the Mountain kitchen: produce from the valleys around, nothing imported that the mountains can supply.
Getting there
About an hour and a quarter by car from Bolzano; Brunico station is fifteen minutes away.
Good to know
The restaurant draws guests from outside, so book the table as early as the room.
