The verdict

An 18th-century manor house in Galicia's Rías Baixas wine country, painted deep pink and reimagined by Maison Bonhomme, the Chicago studio behind a string of restaurants and bars, into a 20-room hotel of suites and yurts. On its three-hectare estate, 45-year-old Albariño vines make its own wine, and its oldest vine, a Cascón, is more than 400 years old. It holds two MICHELIN Keys, and nothing else in Spain looks like it.

Best for

Travellers who want design with a point of view, a glass of the estate's own Albariño and Santiago twenty minutes away.

Skip if

You prefer quiet, classical interiors: this is bold, maximalist and deliberately theatrical.

Insider tip

Ask to see the old Cascón vine — the estate gathers around it at harvest — and decide early between a yurt and a suite in the house: they are very different stays at very different prices.

The rooms

Twenty rooms split between suites in the manor house and yurts in the grounds, each styled individually: handmade cement tiles by Popham Design, Antoniolupi soaking tubs, Molteni&C furniture, Valérie Barkowski linens, Beni rugs by Soufiane Zarib and Murano glass chandeliers. The yurts are the entry price; the suites cost considerably more.

The setting

The house stands among its own vineyard and gardens in Vedra, in the Ulla valley south-east of Santiago de Compostela, in the Rías Baixas wine country. The estate covers three hectares, with 45-year-old Albariño vines on granite soil, cooled by the Atlantic. The gardens of the Pazo de Oca are a few kilometres away.

The food

Dinners are often cooked over fire, and there is a restaurant and a cocktail bar. The estate's wines, sold as Pazo de Galegos, are made in collaboration with Rodrigo Méndez of Forjas del Salnés, one of Galicia's leading winemakers.

Getting there

Santiago de Compostela airport is about 20 minutes by car, A Coruña about 45 and Vigo about an hour. A car is useful for the coast and the rías, though Santiago is close enough for an evening.

Good to know

Facilities include a pool, a sauna, a gym and a tennis court. Galicia is green because it rains: pack for it outside high summer. The two Keys are from the Guide's 2026 selection.
