The verdict

Eight suites above a shop in a French-style townhouse of the 1920s on Calle Tonalá, in Roma Norte, opened in 2014 by Yves Naman with the designer Emmanuel Picault. Each suite is large and different, full of Mexican craft and art; in the Polaris Suite the king-size bed rolls out onto the planted terrace, and the Cilene Suite has a bathtub in the open air. It received one MICHELIN Key in 2024, in the Guide's first Key selection for Mexico, and keeps it.

Best for

Couples who want a suite with a terrace, a café downstairs and Roma Norte on foot.

Skip if

You want lounges, a spa or a restaurant: this is eight suites and a café, and it is proud of it.

Insider tip

Book the Polaris Suite for the bed under the sky, or the Cilene for the open-air tub, and have breakfast brought to the suite.

The rooms

Eight suites of 46 to 95 square metres, all with king-size beds, bathtubs and walk-in showers. Gravity has a canopy bed and a patio with a swing and a hammock made in Yucatán; Polaris and Cilene have terraces with beds that roll outside.

The setting

At Tonalá 53, in Roma Norte, the colonia of early-20th-century townhouses, galleries and cafés. Condesa's parks are a short walk away, and the Centro Histórico is 15 to 20 minutes by car.

The food

Breakfast is included, at La Valise Café or in the suite; the café serves breakfast and lunch all day, with French pastries. Roma Norte's restaurants and cantinas are all around.

Getting there

About 30 to 40 minutes by car from Mexico City's international airport (MEX), depending on traffic.

Good to know

There is no spa, pool or restaurant beyond the café; service comes through a personal concierge. It is a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World and belongs to Namron Hospitality, which also runs El Cortés.
