The verdict
The baroque palace built in 1729 for Admiral López-Pintado, protected since 2009 as one of the city's principal 18th-century buildings, now fifty rooms around a courtyard. The roof, with its plunge pool and a clean line of sight to the Giralda, is what people book it for.
Palace architecture and a rooftop, at a rate the smaller casas palacio cannot match.
You want an intimate house — fifty rooms and a busy events calendar make this the least private of the three Seville stays.
Courtyard-facing rooms are considerably quieter than the street side, and the roof terrace is seasonal — confirm the pool is open before booking a summer rate for it.
The rooms
Fifty rooms and suites, contemporary inside a baroque shell: high ceilings, restored beamed roofs in the upper categories, and a deliberately cool palette against the warm stone. The range is wide, and the gap between the entry categories and the palatial suites is real.
The setting
Calle Santiago, in San Bartolomé — the old Jewish quarter east of the centre, quieter than Santa Cruz and about ten minutes' walk from the cathedral. The building is listed, and its courtyard and staircase are the reason.
The food
A restaurant off the courtyard and a bar on the roof, with the terrace running through the evening in season. Breakfast is generous; the kitchen is competent rather than a destination.
Getting there
About twenty minutes from Santa Justa, thirty from the airport, and unusually for the old centre there is valet parking — which matters if Seville is one stop on an Andalusian drive.
Good to know
It is a Small Luxury Hotels member, a five-star gran lujo and a MICHELIN Key hotel, but it is also a fifty-room hotel that hosts events, and both facts are visible. The basement spa is a sauna and steam room rather than a treatment programme.
