The verdict

Twenty adults-only rooms on land that belonged to César Manrique's family, high on the slope at La Asomada with the volcanoes behind and the sea below. It won the island's first MICHELIN Key in the 2026 selection, and is the most complete hotel on Lanzarote — infinity pool, restaurant, sunset bar — without becoming a resort, and the setting does most of the work.

Best for

Couples who want the island's best landscape from the room and a hotel that can hold a whole evening.

Skip if

You want to walk to a village, sleep by the water, or travel with children under 16.

Insider tip

The volcano-facing categories are the quieter side and the ones the light does most for; sea-view rooms look towards Puerto del Carmen, which is prettier at night than at noon.

The rooms

Twenty rooms and suites across eight categories, from 26 m² doubles to a master suite with a 58 m² terrace. The material language is white lime, dark wood and volcanic stone, and the terraces are the reason to trade up rather than the square metres. Adults only, from 16 years.

The setting

La Asomada sits on the shoulder of the island above Tías, between the black gravel vineyards of La Geria and the south coast. The property was the Manrique family's own, and its whitewashed volumes and gate frame the landscape the way his houses do. Nothing is walkable; that is the trade for the view.

The food

César, the hotel restaurant, reworks Lanzarote cooking with the island's own produce and fish, and the Sunset Bar takes the last hour of light over the sea. Children are allowed in the restaurant even though the hotel is adults only, which is worth knowing if you are booking dinner in August.

Getting there

About 15 minutes by car from Arrecife airport and ten from Puerto del Carmen. A car is effectively required: the roads up to La Asomada are narrow and unlit, and Timanfaya, La Geria and the north all need driving to.

Good to know

It opened in late 2023, so the planting is young and some terraces are still exposed. It is a five-star boutique hotel rather than a full resort — there is a fitness room but no spa — and the wind on this side of the island is real, which the sheltered terrace categories answer better than the open ones.
